Do you have a friend or co-worker who always seems to have it all together? Do you wonder how they do it? Some people seem to naturally ultra-productive, with a few handy tips you can be too. We have a few simple tips for career success. It’s not difficult, and we can show you how.
Prepare your body: One of the biggest obstacles to productivity can be your own body. Fatigue, hunger, and an overall grouchy disposition will stop you in your tracks. Make sure you are getting adequate sleep, eating balanced meals, and drinking plenty of water.
Double Dip the Planner: The biggest mistake many people make is thinking they can remember everything. Ultra-productive people, however, tend to rely on their planners. Utilizing both a paper planner and a digital one will ensure you never lose track of your commitments.
Pick a Day: Make a list of your regular weekly activities such as running errands, cleaning out your purse, or catching up the laundry. Use your planner to assign a day to these tasks and stick to it. Yes, you may come to dread Wednesday because it’s laundry day, but the clothes won’t wash themselves.
Find Your Zone: Hours of productivity vary from one person to the next. Find your ideal time and try to make the most of it. If you are a morning person get up a little early and take advantage of that extra time. If you are a night owl, turn down for work.
Unplug: Remove any distractions that can suck away your time such as Facebook. Allow yourself moderate breaks to check notifications and go through your email.
Prioritize: Take a good look at what you need to get accomplished and set some priorities. Place those items that are more urgent to the top of the list so you are scrambling to finish them later.
Use a Timer: Once you have your list of priorities ready, set your timer and get to work. Estimate how much time you need for a task, set the timer, and then strive to meet it or beat it.
